Under the ICMR/AU - STRC Health Practitioners/Researchers Capacity Building Scheme, a Call for Applications was announced (in June, 2019) for training of African researchers through seven courses to be conducted by the ICMR Institutes in India in the year 2019.
The third course on ‘Research Methodology & Biostatistical Analysis’ has been organized at ICMR National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research, Noida during 22-25 October, 2019 and attended by 13 African researchers from Liberia, Uganda, Kenya, Sierre Leone, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Mali, Tanzania, Burkino Faso and Ghana
The workshop aimed at providing a basic orientation of Research Methodology & Bio - Statistical Analysis. The major topics were development of Research project/ study protocol, Sampling, Sample size determination, data collection, descriptive statistics, concept of p-value, confidence intervals, principles of statistical tests, Statistical inference on quantitative and qualitative types of data including hands on training using SPSS, ethical issues in medical research, and biomedical research paper/Report writing.
The African researchers attending the course at NICPR also visited ICMR Hqrs on 24th October, 2019 and met Secretary DHR and Director General, ICMR and shared their views, feedback about the course and utilization of the training.
